The following are other sources containing historical accounts of Stoke Gifford and Little Stoke.

From Filton Senior Mixed To Filton High

This is the story of two secondary school in Filton, South Gloucestershire and marks the 50th anniversary of Filton High School. Opened in 1959 as a selective maintained secondary school, but unusually with both grammar and technical pupil intakes, Filton High became a comprehensive school when it merged with Filton Secondary School.

The book covers the opening of the original Filton Senior Mixed School in 1934, the war years and the air-raids on Filton and its aircraft works, and the opening of Filton High School It records features of its life over the first ten years, comprehensive school reorganisation and the merger of the two schools in 1969, and many aspects of the life of the school since then.

Through extracts from the official school log books and other documents, contributions from teachers, pupils and parents, and many photographs the book presents a fascinating insight into 75 years of secondary education.

By John Lang, Jenny Lewis and Malcolm Lewis.
