UWE Masterplan Update
The University of the West of England (UWE) purchased 28 hectares of land adjacent to the existing Frenchay Campus in 2008 and set about a detailed masterplanning process.
Widespread public consultation was carried out with key stakeholders, local residents and businesses in 2009, as well as ongoing detailed discussions with South Gloucestershire Council. This work resulted in endorsement of the UWE New Campus Concept Statement by the Council in December 2011.
Since then changes in the funding and delivery of higher education and the emergence of proposals for a stadium on the wider campus have led to the further review and consideration of these plans by UWE.
UWE is currently finalising revised Masterplan proposals for the Frenchay Campus with the intention of submitting an Outline Planning Application to South Gloucestershire in August 2012. This will provide framework to enable the University to move forward with the development of detailed proposals for the Campus.
