A brand new £1.2million programme of further highways investment across South Gloucestershire has been unveiled by Local Conservatives.

The investment comes as part of a more than £2million package of works announced in May this year to boost transport infrastructure and improve local roads, with almost £1million being used to upgrade metrobus services around Emersons Green and Lyde Green. This latest investment builds on the £10million programme of transport infrastructure updates and maintenance works approved earlier this year by the Council’s Conservative Administration, part of a £174million record investment made since 2019.

Among the roads set for resurfacing works as part of the investment are:

  • In the Stoke Gifford Ward: Collins Avenue, Grange Avenue, Hawkesley Drive, Lawford Avenue Rossall Avenue and Stokebridge Avenue
  • In Winterbourne: Bradstone Road, England’s Crescent, Gazzard Road, Lewton Lane, Saint Michael’s Close, Salem Road and Star Barn Road
  • In Hanham: Footshill Close and Holmwood
  • In the Charlton and Cribbs Ward: Callicroft Road and Fir Tree Close
  • In Kingswood: Coronation Road, Fairview Road, Gages Close and Kingsleigh Court

Footpaths being resurfaced in the expanded programme include:

  • In the Frenchay and Downend Ward: Four Acre Avenue, Glendale, Heath Court, Heath Gardens, Heath Road, Heath Walk, Oakdale Avenue, Oakdale Close, Oakdale Road, Sandholm Close, Sandringham Avenue and Windsor Court
  • In the Pilning and Severn Beach Ward: Abbot Road, Ableton Lane, Albert Road, Beach Avenue, Beach Road, Denny Isle Drive, Prospect Road, School Way, Severnwood Gardens, Station Road and Victoria Crescent
  • In Emersons Green: Chine View, Jubilee Crescent, The Meads, Valley Gardens
  • In Filton: Bevan Court, Boverton Road, Charborough Road, Glebelands Road, Mackie Avenue, Mackie Grove and Rodney Crescent

Cllr Steve Reade, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Strategic Infrastructure, said: “I am delighted that this Council is continuing its record investment into maintaining local roads and paths across our communities, building on the £10million programme we announced earlier this year as part of our record £174million investment since 2019.

“It is important to us that residents can look out their front door and be proud to call South Gloucestershire home and it is great we are in this position where we can make further improvements that benefit people whether they are driving, walking, cycling or taking public transport.”
