Public Consultation: Potential Tree Planting in 40 Acres

Stoke Gifford Parish Council has been offered Grant funding from the ‘Green Canopy’ project, a DEFRA scheme to help Parish Councils to increase woodland cover, enhance habitats for wildlife, and prevent flooding. More details about the project can be found here: Green Canopy Project for Parish Councils - Forest of Avon

We propose to plant these new trees in 40 Acres. This includes around 250 small saplings, planted closely together to form thickets, like those currently in the field next to Sandringham Road. These are shown in lime green on the map. It also includes around 35 specimen trees, shown in dark green circles on the map. We will need to carry out an Archaeological survey first, to establish if we can go ahead with planting and exactly where we can plant.
