A4174 traffic cones updates
SGPC - 2nd June 2020
The following is a message from the Chair of Stoke Gifford Parish Council to South Gloucestershire Council.
“The cycling and pedestrian widening project @ Station Road from MOD roundabout going north by installing cones reducing dual carriageway to single lane.
"This area straddles our Stoke Gifford ward and has been implemented without any prior consultation with Stoke Gifford ward councillors and Stoke Gifford Parish Council and also it would appear surrounding wards have also not been consulted.
"The impact on commuting traffic on this main arterial road clearly has a detrimental effect on all commuters from neighbouring wards in within South Gloucestershire.
"It would appear by the comments submitted by Cllr Adam Monk (Filton) that he was made aware and took part in a briefing regarding the scheme and Cllr Chris Woods (Filton) did not receive his invitation to attend until the day after the briefing was held.
"Stoke Gifford Ward Councillors have all been inundated with complaints and clearly this scheme has caused a frenzy of comments and had a very detrimental effect on commuting traffic within the area.
"We cannot agree with these proposals and would request that they are removed as soon as possible”.
After strong opposition by the three South Glos Council members on the Parish Council it was decided the scheme would be postponed and cones removed.
