Unauthorised encampments on Little Stoke Playing Fields

On Friday evening (31.07.26) approx. 21:45 Travellers damaged three official SGC council padlocks at the front entrance of Little Stoke Park and managed to bump/ shift the parish council vehicle away from the entrance to the internal field gate onto the playing fields/ sports pitches , the SGC padlock was also damaged on the field gate and many vehicles entered on the sports pitches.

The Clerk was notified immediately and reported the encampment to the South Gloucestershire Council Traveller Unit and the Police right away.
The Police were on site Friday evening.
The SGC Traveller Unit attended site on Saturday 1st August to complete a welfare assessment and served a Section 77 Notice requiring the occupiers to vacate the site by Sunday 2nd August.
On Monday 3rd August the SGC Traveller Unit applied to the court for a Section 78 Order. Once a Section 78 Order has been granted by the Court, SGC will be in a position to proceed with the eviction.
